“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort…but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”
– M. L. King, Jr.
Having worked in a Fortune 50 corporation, marketing healthcare products and services for 20 years, I’ve learned a little about comfort and a lot about challenge and controversy. Much of my learning has come from experiencing enormous change. Healthcare has certainly had more than its share. Through this, I have learned to embrace change by focusing on the strategic fundamentals of marketing and business in order to motivate people and move businesses forward. Since it is likely to always be with us (change, that is) I’m compelled to be good at recognizing it and turning it to an advantage.
Since 1981, when I turned my interests to marketing leaving a short career in finance, I’ve taken on and overcome 18 different corporate positions from sales representative to running organizations (I guess I couldn’t keep a job). Actually, I continually sought out new products or new business initiatives to keep myself stimulated and learning. The ultimate stimulation and learning, to this point in my career, has come from starting my own consulting firm in 1999 to assist healthcare companies improve their marketing and sale effectiveness in what are surely most challenging times.
I am committed to excellence, lifelong learning, and teaching. Throughout my career, I’ve been recognized for doing the best at whatever I’ve taken on. Within the corporation, I received numerous special achievement awards, President’s Awards and promotions. I also received recognition as one of New Jersey ’s Outstanding Black Professionals. To continue moving forward, I currently hold an appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Business with the College of Graduate Studies of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia .
